Publicado en Tokio en 1909, este libro raro por su encuadernaci\u00f3n artesanal en hilos de colores se centra en temas de teolog\u00eda, historia de las doctrinas y arqueolog\u00eda b\u00edblica. Es obra de la autora inglesa Elizabeth Anna Gordon (1851-1925), quien form\u00f3 parte de la British Japan Society y estudi\u00f3 en profundidad temas vinculados a las religiones, espec\u00edficamente al Cristianismo temprano y al Budismo. Realiz\u00f3 su primer viaje a Jap\u00f3n en 1891 y en 1907 volver\u00eda para quedarse. Tambi\u00e9n en Jap\u00f3n lleg\u00f3 a formar una gran colecci\u00f3n de arte y libros. En Messiah the Ancestral Hope of the Ages<\/em> Gordon realiza aportes en el \u00e1mbito de las religiones comparadas e incluye ilustraciones a color, entre las que se destacan un mapa de la India y varios paisajes e im\u00e1genes de China y Jap\u00f3n, como el atardecer en el Oc\u00e9ano Pac\u00edfico o los muros de Pek\u00edn y sus templos consagrados a Confucio. Tambi\u00e9n contiene ilustraciones de distintas escenas rituales, como por ejemplo la danza de las Mi-ko, princesas v\u00edrgenes vestidas de mariposas.<\/p>\n
